Cayetano Heredia has been recognized as the leading institution in Peru in the field of Life Sciences & Medicine, according to the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024. This recognition highlights our university’s commitment and academic excellence in training professionals in this vital sector.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 presented the list of universities leading in five thematic areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management. Its methodology proposes indicators to measure the institutional capacity to address challenges of academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, H-index, and the international research network.

These statistics, published on April 10, show that our university ranks first in Peru in the thematic area of Life Sciences & Medicine and its separate specialties of Medicine and Biological Sciences.

In the overall score of the thematic area of Life Sciences & Medicine, we have an academic reputation of 64.9 points, followed by the international research network with 59.5, citations per paper with 55.0, employer reputation of 50.4, and H-index with 42.5.

First in Medicine!

Regarding the individual area of Medicine, we are the top-ranked Peruvian university, ranking 201-250 globally. The citations per paper stand out with 84.3 points in the overall score, followed by employer reputation with 62.9, academic reputation with 59.9, H-index with 58.9, and international research network with 57.9.

In Biological Sciences, an area in which we are nominated for the first time (ranked 651-670 globally), employer reputation stands out with 60.5 units, followed by academic reputation with 51.0, citations per paper with 46.4, international research network with 38.7, and H-index with 30.7.

This achievement reflects the institution’s continuous effort and dedication to remain at the forefront of research and teaching in these disciplines, which are fundamental to the development of health and societal well-being.
